Inner Peace - World Peace
Our group is called Inner Peace - World Peace. We met on Saturday mornings for almost 12 years (4-12-2002 to 1-9-2014) in First United Church of Oak Park, Illinois. Over the course of the years, 128 people sat in for at least one session. Some who attended the group were members of the church but the group was open to anyone interested in nonviolence and it had been quite an assortment of people. The premise of the group is that "Peace begins with me."
Our mission: Inner Peace - World Peace advocates for nonviolence by means of spiritual disciplines, group meetings, education and activism. We believe there is a necessary connection between inner transformation and finding effective alternatives to violence in the world. We had welcomed dialog with others.
Tom and Karen Ard are in need of some extra help. They will need caregivers on a 24 hour basis and have designed a job description for that. It will be a paid position. They would welcome information regarding good caregivers, who will not be hired through a health care agency.
In addition they are looking for a few persons who would be available several hours a week while Tom is in the hospital to help with shopping, medication pick-up, and small chores around the house.
Karen would also welcome visitors on a call-ahead rather than drop-in basis...

I have been meaning to give an update on the status of our Saturday morning InnerPeace/WorldPeace group, but one thing or another has gotten in the way. On May 25th, with enough in attendance to constitute a quorum, I called an impromptu administrative meeting.
