Hi Everyone, my name is Steve Sewall. I'm a Chicago teacher and media entrepreneur. I work at Chicago Civic Media, which I founded in 1990.
I'm convinced that intellegent, citizen-participatory uses of Chicago's media, especially TV, are the key to Chicago's best future. Going to the streets for change is good, but working smart with Chicago's media is best. It's the only way we will get the change that Chicago needs.
With COVID and George Floyd in the air, now is the time to show Chicago's media exactly how they can profit (make money) by connecting ordinary Chicagoans and City Hall in ways that unify our divided city and make life in Chicago better and safer for everyone.
Last fall Mayor Lightfoot told the Economic Club of Chicago that she wants Chicago to be the "safest big city in the United States." That's the right goal. Chicagoans can realize it in weekly citywide public forums airing on CAN_TV and/or on Channels 2, 5, 7, 9, 11, or 32.
People, it''s our time. It's Chicago's time. Time for Chicago to show other American cities how TV can bring out the very best in a community.
I OFFER:
- I'm a teacher and tutor; I like helping people research difficult projects and write about them.
- When I have time, I can also help with writing projects of any kind: resumes, letters, etc.
- I'm into music. I like connecting with musicians who go for music like this and this and this.
I NEED:
- People young and old to meet with executives of Chicago's TV stations to get them to host ongoing problem-solving public forums aimed at making Chicago safe (solving violence).
