It's kind of like Facebook and kind of like Craigslist - so why would someone want to use this site rather than the others?

The main purpose of this site is to provide a tool for people to connect with one another around ordinary, day-to-day needs as well as to deal with issues of larger importance. Whether it's something needed in the home environment or an issue of work, raising kids, healthcare, etc., I believe our best shot at solving these problems is for people in local villages to talk with one another and help one another.

Don't participate in the annual over consumption due to holiday shopping.  Here is a great article full of ideas and suggestions for eliminating your consumption, debt, and waste all at the same time.  Can you only buy / pay for necessities for the next month (food, clothing, utilities)?

How do we protect the rights of homeless children in the Oak Park school system?   What legal issues need to be addressed? Proof of residency, guardianship, forced enrollment dates, bussing?  The answer is not so simply.  What are your thoughts?

Should District 200 follow other local districts and revise the residency requirement (i.e tighten existing loopholes)?   What is your opinion?

Felice and I went to NYC for the showing of her first film, THE CALL.  My role - professional by-stander.  Though we didn't win ‘best of the fest,’ people loved the film.  The story starts slowly, mysteriously, with an expressive 11-year-old boy nagging his older sister at the edge of the ocean.  It's a skillfully crafted, beautiful film with an emotional wallop.  To order a copy as a DVD or instant download, visit the website: www.thecallmovie.org/DVD.

When did our school remove civics 101 from the curriculum?  Shouldn't we teach our youth about politics at an early age so they become committed to the local and national political scene as adults?  What are your thoughts?

Is it comfortable?  Noisy?  Quiet?  How's the landlord?  Are there any challenges?  Would you recommend it to a friend?

Does anyone have any recommendations for a person/company who can make and install window screens?  Our current windows don't have them and we would really like to get some made.  I'm just not sure who to go to.  We want someone reputable, but also reasonably priced.  Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
