An Empire State of Wall Covering: Tom Slaughter’s NYC Watertowers Posted January 26th, 2011 by Sonja Hall Admittedly, I stalked the most recent Designer Pages event in New York City and instantly felt like it is almost time for me to make the trek back to that beautiful, big city. Starry-eyed and in my internet search mode for the coolest intertwining of NYC and design, I stumbled upon a cool wallpaper design known as NYC Watertowers that was created by Tom Slaughter and is available through the boutique wallpaper design company, Cavern Home . (more…) Josep Lluscà’s Sputnik Tables for resol group I was much gratified this morning to land on the webpage of Spain’s resol group , where I quickly noticed two phenomena I much admire: Girona and Sputnik. The first is a picturesque Catalonian town just North of Barcelona (and home of resol, where I once enjoyed a riverside stroll and a scrumptious scoop of cinnamon gelato, and the second references the seminal Soviet satellite that also became a pervasive metaphor for shaking America from its technological slumber and catapulting us to the moon. Pulp Furniture by Odelia and Dan takes its inspiration from the structural integrity and recycled quality of recycled paper packaging. The photo is pure Americana, though scenes much like it exist across the rural world, as it evokes the symbolism of this most useful tool of domestic life. Designer Christian Haas would seem to share in this validation of the simple rope as a potent archetype. The company is known for the contemporary edge of its collection of products for cucina and bagno, like the smooth, sexy, and sensuous Mimi Collection; or the strange stylistics of the enticing Rettangulo LED colored faucets; or the hybrid tour de force of the Goccia Integrated faucet .
