I have a large laundry room I want to split in half and make into a small bathroom with a toilet, small vanity and shower stall. The west wall is the exterior wall, the north and south walls are pocket doors, and I want to wall in the east side and again have a pocket door since the space will be tight. Is this possible? Do I plumb it up through the floor instead of the wall? What about the sink and shower drain? What about venting? Do I have to just run everything along the walls and paint them white to match? HELP !!!!!! What type of sand should be used to make white mortar? My builder used a light yellow sand and white cement to make white mortar for laying bricks. I asked for white mortar and now it looks yellow to me. He said there was no way to get a pure white, which I believe there is. I had a previous home and we used white sand. Advise on what to do next...thank you. Any advice or opinions as to what is causing countertop separating from drywall? My kitchen countertop (with intregal backsplash) has progressively separated from the drywall. We think it is from the drywall swelling during the winter from (what we suspect) is a lack of moisture barrier as this wall it also an exterior wall. This also happens with our master bathroom counter top. It too has an intregal backsplash pulling away from the drywall which swells during the winter, and is an exterior wall. Does an electric wall oven require exterior venting? Hello, I am wondering if an electric wall oven requires venting to the outside. I have a client that refuses to replace their current old ovens because the new ones don't have exterior ventilation, and I am trying to find information about whether this is really required or not. I assume it isn't since most new models don't have this feature, but I don't have any explanation as to why not! What's the most cost effective way to do a kitchen remodeling of just the lighting? There are lots of tall trees near my east-facing kitchen window which are great for shade but make the kitchen dark. Since I do home-schooling, the two 25-year old track light strips are kept on a lot. The window can't be enlarged. What's the most cost effective way to do a kitchen remodeling of just the lighting? How can I check to see if windows are insulated? How can I check to see if when a replacment vinyl windows was installed, the window frame was actually insulated fully? A few years ago, I had vinyl replacement windows installed in an 100 year old house. I still seem to have draft issues around the windows and I'm thinking that the gaps where the old window weights were, weren't insulated or at least not fully insulated. Is there a way to see if there is any insulation in the window frames, or fill any possible gaps in the wood window frames that now have vinyl replacement windows already in them? Thank you. Putting New Wall Over Old Wall I tore down old wood paneling and the Sheetrock behind it is somewhat damaged. I decided to just put 3/8" blue-board over the old wall. My question is. I want to put beadboard paneling half way up the wall. Should I put blueboard over all of the wall or should I just put it on the top half since the bottom will be beadboard. I just don't want a large difference in size between the paneling and new wall.
