State Rep. Camille Y. Lilly, a lifelong resident of Chicago's Greater Westside, is an active voice for improving the accessibility of affordable health care, protecting our neighborhoods from violence, fighting for stronger schools, and passing legislation designed to empower our workforce, help small businesses start up and grow, and put people back to work.
Lilly is committed to being an open and accessible advocate for local residents. She is working to address the needs and concerns of the area by fighting for educational assistance for families and students and initiatives designed to boost job creation and business development, striving to make health care more affordable and accessible, championing laws that increase health education in schools, and promoting more responsible state budgeting practices that fund the state's pensions and pay overdue bills to service providers while protecting critical funding for mental health services at the community level. Lilly appreciates feedback from constituents to seek collaborative solutions to the many challenges facing Illinois.
Prior to joining the General Assembly, Lilly served as executive director of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, where she built strong working relationships with the Chicago Park District, 15th District Police Department, local schools, community leaders and area agencies to foster job creation and economic development in the region. She also helped to create the Austin Chamber of Commerce's Summer Youth Program, connecting local youngsters with internships and work experiences within local businesses.
As Vice President of External Affairs and Development at Loretto Hospital, Lilly has spearheaded the development and implementation of a community Health and Wellness Screening Program that has helped save lives by providing citizens with critical information, resources and health care services.
Lilly has long been involved in community development efforts, including the Austin Banner Program, the Lake and Central Redevelopment Project, the new Kimberly A. Lightford Emergency Department at Loretto Hospital, James D. Montgomery Men's Health and Senior Health Services at Chicago's Austin Senior Satellite Center, the Beth-Anne Life Centre, and the development of Westside Performing Art Center. Lilly received the Mary Alice Henry Award from the Westside Health Authority for exceptional commitment and creativity in addressing the human needs of citizens on the West Side.
Lilly is a graduate of Oak Park-River Forest High School. She received a B.S. in Management from Drake University and a master's degree in healthcare administration from Oklahoma University. She recently worked to receive an Executive MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. Lilly is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the Delta Sigma Pi professional business organization.
