About me.
I was born in Smithfield, Virginia, and after graduating high school, I joined the United States Marine Corps. In 1989, I was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 24th Marines in Chicago, where I taught weapons and tactics during Operation Desert Storm.
I received my Bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, in Criminal and Social Justice from Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois and my Juris Doctorate from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, where I appeared on the Dean’s List of honor students.
I am currently a litigation attorney at Nexus Legal Group, P.C.and serve as one of the firm’s founding partners.
I am also a Sergeant with the Chicago Police Department and have faithfully served for over 20 years. I am currently assigned to the 025th District, encompassing much of the 29th Ward.
I am active in community affairs and serves on the Executive Board of Directors to the Northwest Side Community Coalition, a community not for profit organization.
I am married to my high school sweetheart, Melissa, for 23 years. Our son Marcus is in his sophomore year at Western Illinois University. Our daughters, Carissa and Erykah attend Taft High School.
