The snow has finally melted, and I am looking forward to the Farmers Market starting next month.

Thursday, April 17, 2014 - 10:22am

I can't wait for all of the snow to melt and for the earth to warm up. With all of the water, this should be a great growing season, especially for the large trees.

It's finally warming up enough to get outside and dig in the dirt. I use this list annually as a reminder of spring garden tasks. http://eartheasy.com/grow_garden_early_spring.html

Looking forward to some gardening tips, especially regarding growing your own food in Oak Park. I have planted an extensive vegetable garden for the last 5 years, and the crop is diminishing annually, especially the tomatoes. Any ideas as to what could be going on? I have also purchased a "bee house" and unfortunately no bees have come home to live:(

I am so happy to see all of the posts for gardening.  I have a serious "green thumb" and have waiting for the weather to warm up so I can get outside.  I just joined the gardening group, and am looking to participate in active discussions, share cuttings, mingle at the Farmers Market,...

I am so excited to join this group as I am a total green thumb.  I just recently started gardening, but am so willing to share the knowledge I do have, and hope to learn so much more.  If anyone is inetrested in "the shared experience" meaning labor, tools, equipment, crop yields, I would be so interested.

I look forward to sharing with all of you!
