VEX Robotics has announced that two of OPEF's VEX Robotics teams have been accepted to compete in the 2013 U.S. National VEX Robotics Championship, March 7 - 9. The Terminators from Brooks and the Black Team from Julian, along with their coaches, will be traveling to Omaha, Nebraska to compete against the best middle school teams from across the country. They will face off against other teams on a playing field in this year's VEX Robotics game Sack Attack by driving robots they have designed, built and programmed from the ground up since October. The teams will also vie for awards in categories such as design, creativity, innovation and teamwork.

Terminator team members are Samantha Braun, Mac Bell, Julia Dreher-Threlkeld, and An Edwards. Black team members are Ben Pooley, Jacob Spangler, Bennett Tucker, and Tyler Yokoo.

This is the second year in a row that OPEF VEX Robotics teams have competed in the Nationals. In 2012, three of our teams qualified for the U.S. National VEX Robotics Championship. All three teams made it into the finals and one team from Brooks placed 2nd in the Middle School Division.
