Inner Peace - World Peace

Our group is called Inner Peace - World Peace.  We met on Saturday mornings for almost 12 years (4-12-2002 to 1-9-2014) in First United Church of Oak Park, Illinois.  Over the course of the years, 128 people sat in for at least one session.  Some who attended the group were members of the church but the group was open to anyone interested in nonviolence and it had been quite an assortment of people.  The premise of the group is that "Peace begins with me."

Our mission: Inner Peace - World Peace advocates for nonviolence by means of spiritual disciplines, group meetings, education and activism.  We believe there is a necessary connection between inner transformation and finding effective alternatives to violence in the world.  We had welcomed dialog with others.

Many of our big problems - locally & nationally - are caused by money. Eg, poverty, jobs disappearing, environment, and growing inequality.

Money is also a simple, pragmatic solution, but a new (and ancient) money based on time.

Here's how it works.  When I help you for an hour, I credit my account for that hour and debit yours.  The hour I just earned helping you I can spend by asking someone to help me.  The hour you owe you can clear by helping someone.

We are organizing time exchanges within churches, not-for-profits, and...

“Try it, you’ll like it! “ Develop strategies to increase the use of TimeBanking:  It’s time for us to use the many wonderful assets of all residents, increasing sharing of unmet needs and unused resources.  A time bank can help us do that.

A time bank is a tool that matches individuals who have something to share (which is everyone) with individuals and organizations that have needs.

Join us to explore the assets and needs in OPRF that can be matched through TimeBanking and encourage residents to try it.

I am grateful to have Bud and his memory in my life.

Bud impacted so many of us.  I feel like I've lost another Dad.  He listened and cared, and expressed what he had to say so very eloquently about living life to its fullest and seeking peace inside and out.  My thoughts and good wishes for Vickie, Christopher, and his family, and for the many of us who were connected to him.

Just below is Pastor Kent...

We have for years gathered on Saturday mornings with the common purpose of moving toward both inner peace and world peace.

Bud Hayes and all of you in Inner Peace - World Peace came to mind when I saw this video, and so I want to share it with you: Is War is Over?  A Paradox Explained.

Your views are important to me and I hope you'll comment.

Second Status Review: Saturday Morning IP/WP

Before drafting this status review I checked the first one that I sent out and was surprised to find that it is already a little over a year ago that I did that, 12/8/12 to be specific.  At that time we were averaging about a half dozen in attendance.  Now we are down to half of that and David Kelm, Cindy Palombi and I, who discussed this at  our January 4th meeting, are wondering whether it is time to either bring these...

Barry Koren has helped me gain access to innerpeace/worldpeace online, which is at ourvillagelife.com/ipwp. This is a test to see whether the messages I will be sending go through. Hope you are having a good day.
